The Junior Visit Program offers high school juniors a sneak-peek into the academic and social life of Oberlin College. This insider's view of Oberlin will allow you to take a tour, sit in on classes, speak to admissions counselors and current students, complete an admissions interview, and even stay overnight in a residence hall. There is no cost to participate in the program. However, transportation costs and any incidental expenses must be provided by each family.
A note about Interviews:
Admissions interviews are typically reserved for high school seniors; however, interviews will be offered during the Junior Visit Program on a first-come, first-served basis. Interviews are typically 30 minutes, are informational in nature, and are not required for admission, except in the case of homeschooled students or students completing high school in fewer than the traditional 4 years.
Not sure if you're ready to interview? No problem! There will be many opportunities to interview in the future, both on-campus and off-campus. Off-campus options include alumni interviews, phone or Skype interviews, or interviews in a city near you.
A note about Overnights:
Prospective students who request to stay overnight on campus will be paired with a current student host. Students who choose to stay overnight should be prepared to sleep on a dorm room floor, and should bring a sleeping bag, pillow, towel, and toiletries. If the prospective student knows a current student and would like to request this person as the overnight host, please indicate this on the registration form.
Students will have the option of staying overnight the night before the program (Thursday night) or the night of the program (Friday night). Overnight stays are for one night only. Parents and family members should plan alternate accommodations.
Special hotel rates have been secured at La Quinta Inns & Suites in North Olmsted and the Hampton Inn in Westlake, OH. Alternately, the Oberlin Inn is within walking distance to the Admissions Office; reservations may be made by calling 440-775-1111.
