Overnight Stays

Overnight Stays

OvernightsProspective students are invited to experience student life by staying overnight in a residence hall with a current student. This is a great opportunity to sample dining hall food, experience the campus community, and attend a variety of evening events.

Overnight visits are available on a limited basis Sunday through Friday nights throughout the academic year for students in their senior year of high school. Overnights are not offered on select dates. See below for suspended overnight visit dates, or consult the visit calendar for a detailed schedule.

Overnight stays must be reserved at least 2 weeks in advance by calling the Campus Visit Office at 1-800-622-6243. After your appointment is made, you will receive confirmation by e-mail and further details about your upcoming visit.

Please be aware that a parent or guardian must sign and return the Visitation Permission/Release Form (included in the email confirmation) at least three business days prior to the visit, or the prospective student will not be permitted to stay overnight. Also, please note the following guidelines:

  • Due to a high volume of requests, overnight visits are for one night only.
  • Check-in time for the overnight is 4:30 p.m. the afternoon of the stay.
  • Check-out time for the overnight is 9:00 a.m. the following morning.
  • Current Oberlin students host prospective students in their dorm rooms. You will need a sleeping bag, pillow, towel, and toiletries.

Overnights are not offered during periods of exams and breaks, as outlined below:

Despite much skepticism and trepidation among College leaders, faculty and residents, intercollegiate football makes its debut in Oberlin in the fall of 1891 and the team plays its first home game against Cleveland’s Adelbert College of Western Reserve University. Oberlin wins, 12-6. Since then, interscholastic sports programs have grown and the College now supports 22 varsity men's and women's teams.
