I grew up in Albuquerque, New Mexico, where the desert meets the mountains and people love to eat green chile peppers. If I close my eyes, I can vividly picture the sights and sounds of my parents' busy kitchen with the aroma of fresh roasted chiles in the air. Hungry yet? Besides spicy Mexican food, I enjoy movies, playing acoustic guitar, and spending time with my wife Erin, a native of Ohio.
I received my B.S. degree in mechanical engineering from the University of New Mexico. I interned with NASA at a research center for a year before I decided to pursue a career in higher education. I worked professionally with college students for seven years at the University of Colorado at Boulder in several capacities: campus ministry, student programming, multicultural recruitment and retention, and academic advisement. I joined the Oberlin Admissions team in 2001.
Your decision to explore Oberlin today is one step further in finding an academic and social environment that is right for you. I hope to meet you during my visits to Arizona, Massachusetts and New Mexico.
