Greetings from Oberlin.  My name is Josh Levy and I am a 1994 graduate of Oberlin with majors in History and Judaic Studies.  From here, I went to Brandeis University for a Masters in 1997 and New York University for a PhD in Medieval Jewish History (2004).  I started working in the Admissions Office in 2003.

I never imagined that I would return to Oberlin but I love being back here.  Why is Oberlin a wonderful community?  The concerts, the world-class art museum, the fantastic restaurant options, student theater, and the Apollo (a two-screen movie theater) are amazing.  You'll be surrounded by some of the best and brightest students, all looking for ways to use their education to ultimately give something back and to make the world a better place.

I look forward to helping you learn more about Oberlin's distinctive features.  I hope to see you on campus or when I travel to New Jersey, Philadelphia, and Cleveland.  Please don't hesitate to be in touch with me if you have any questions at all.

Despite much skepticism and trepidation among college leaders, faculty and residents, intercollegiate football makes its debut in Oberlin in the fall of 1891 and the team plays its first home game against Cleveland’s Adelbert College of Western Reserve University. Oberlin wins, 12-6. Since then, interscholastic sports programs have grown and the college now supports 21 varsity men's and women's teams.
