Music and education are my great passions. I feel very fortunate then to be at Oberlin, where we celebrate both world-class performing arts and an elite liberal arts education with equal pride and joy.

Born and raised in South Korea, I moved to northern California when I was nine years old. I found music as soon as I arrived, and have been playing the flute ever since. I attended Pomona College where I studied politics and music, and discovered the import of education as a student intern in the admissions office. Upon graduation, I returned to Korea on a Fulbright Fellowship to teach English to high school students. I then worked for my alma mater before joining Oberlin College.

The wealth of opportunities Oberlin students have astounds me everyday. I am eager to share with you all that we offer, and look forward to a chance to meet you when I travel to Nevada and northern California.

Oberlin College has been a leader in improving the environment. The Adam J. Lewis Center for Environmental Studies opened in November 1999. It was designed to purify and reuse non-potable wastewater on site, use sustainably grown or produced materials, and eliminate the use of toxic materials, among other features. The building is intended to be a laboratory that showcases environmentally efficient building technologies and sustainable building techniques. The Lewis Center has won several major architectural awards and continues to attract considerable national attention.
