Richard A. Wood joined the Oberlin College Art Department in March of 2008.  With extensive background in property management, construction, real estate, in addition to his art experience and education, he oversees the Fisher and Baron Art Galleries, ten art buildings/facilities including Venturi, Clarence Ward, Art Domes, ECS, Hales gym, Hobbs, and four separate faculty art studios, and provides operational and curricular support to faculty and students.  He also sits on the Baron Gallery and the Oberlin College Health and Safety Committees. 

Wood received a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Wittenberg University in ceramics and painting, with a minor in religion.  In 1991 he earned a Master of Fine Arts from Texas Tech University in Painting, Printmaking, and Art History. 

Born and raised in Ohio, Wood's family has been in the Oberlin/Lorain County Area since 1835.  Generations of family members have earned degrees from Oberlin College & Conservatory as far back as 1878.  

Prior to his employment with Oberlin College, Wood sold real estate in Cleveland Ohio with Progressive Urban Real Estate, owned and managed the contemporary fine arts gallery raw&co, was the sole proprietor of RAW Rental Properties, general contracted and owned Wood Construction Co., and was a press operator/crew chief for Quebecor World, an international large volume web commercial printer.  Other work experience includes teaching printmaking at Lorain County Community College and a studio apprenticeship at Griffin Stained Glass Studio in El Paso, Texas.
