In addition to the survey of Russian history from the 10th century to the present, Heather Hogan variously offers course work on early modern Russia, the 19th-century intelligentsia, Russia's interactions with Central Asia, and Stalinism. Her research  interests include late imperial labor history and 19th- to 20th-century Central Asia. She is author of Forging Revolution: Metalworkers, Managers, and the State in St. Petersburg, 1890-1914 (Indiana, 1993). On July 1, 2010, she began a three year appointment as Associate Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences for faculty development.
