Educational Background

Professor Forman teaches courses in Russian language, literature and film (among them “Cold War Culture: A-Bombs, Beatniks and Dogs in Space,” “Delusions and Grandeur: The Myth of Petersburg,” and the First Year Seminar “Re-envisioning Russia”). Her research interests include language pedagogy and Soviet/post-Soviet prose and cinema. She writes for the on-line journal Kinokultura: New Russian Cinema and serves as a consultant for The Dostoevsky Museum in St. Petersburg.  In 2012 her article “Myths of the New Millennium: Visions of Petersburg in Recent Russian Cinema,” appeared in From Petersburg to Bloomington, Essays in Honor of Nina Perlina. At present she and coauthor Boris Roginsky are completing The Frog’s Autumn March, the first English critical edition of the prose of Petersburg writer Bella Ulanovskaja (1943-2005).
