When four well-bred New Yorker parents meet to resolve an “altercation” between their sons, will they be able to keep their polite demeanors, or is something more primitive at play? The small confrontation quickly spirals out of control as sides are picked, fingers pointed and knick-knacks sent flying. With sharp turns of dialogue and an eye for the absurd, playwright Yasmina Reza turns social constructs inside out, exposing the hilarious hypocrisy of Western society. Existentialist Alan, appeaser Annette, practical Michael, and idealist Veronica quickly find themselves stuck in a survival game. And it’s every man, woman, child and hamster for themselves.
