Conversing with strangers can be uncomfortable, exhilarating, or even enlightening. Sometimes we make deeper connections with those we do not know than with those already in our lives. When traveling abroad in Europe this past summer Nate Krasner (’13) experienced the loneliness of traveling alone, but also the strangely intimate connections two strangers can make when one is just passing through— what Krasner calls a “one night stand conversation.” In a vignette style, workshop performance, Krasner inhabits the words spoken with various people he met abroad. In this entirely self-created work, 'Skaida, Skaidis…' investigates the traveler as one who immediately experiences this rift in human connection.
