Geospatial Computer Lab
The Geospatial Computer Lab allows students to access to tools and software for GIS, remote sensing, sedimentary modeling, and scientific communication. Classroom management software on the 18 workstations facilitates screen and document sharing in large or small groups.
Faculty members use the lab space for hands-on classroom activities during fall and spring semesters, and during winter term, the facility is used for an intensive GIS project open to students of all majors. Students use the lab space to investigate trends and processes on both local and global scales, often collaborating with local nonprofits and Oberlin faculty to answer geologic and environmental questions about places ranging from southeast Oberlin to Southeast Asia.
