Graduation Requirements and Course Attributes

Distribution Requirements

At least nine (9) credit hours in each of the three divisions of the college taken from at least two departments or programs within each of these divisions.

Arts and Humanities (HU)
Social and Behavioral Science (SS)
Natural Sciences and Mathematics (NS)

Cultural Diversity (CD)
At least nine (9) credit hours in courses dealing mainly with cultural diversity, including foreign language.

Quantitative Proficiency
Demonstrate quantitative proficiency by earning credits in one of the courses designated:
Quantitative Proficiency-full (QPf)
or
by two instructors who have taught the student in any of the courses which are designated:
Quantitative Proficiency-half (QPh)

Writing Proficiency
Writing Certification (WR)
Writing Intensive (WRi)

Pass/No Pass (P/NP) Grading
Some first-year seminars offer only the Pass/No Pass Grading option, in which all passing work (A+ to C–) receives the uniform grade of Pass (P), and work below C– is given the grade of No Pass (NP). These seminars are designated by the phrase ā€œP/NP grading only,ā€ which appears at the end of the course description.
