College to Conservatory/Double-Degree

Current Oberlin Arts and Sciences students interested in auditioning for the Conservatory must complete the steps below:

  1. Complete and submit the Unified Application for Conservatory Admissions. Note: part of the online application will be scheduling your audition.
  2. Contact Beth Weiss in the Conservatory admissions office via e-mail prior to submitting the application so the $100 application fee may be waived.
  3. Make an appointment with the Associate Dean in the Conservatory Dean's office. You will discuss your plans involving the Conservatory, and you will also get a printout of your Oberlin College transcript.
  4. Complete the Change of Status form and submit it to the appropriate office.
  5. Perform an audition or submit a portfolio: Follow directions for auditioning.
  6. Students interested in applying and auditioning for a major in voice are required to submit a screening prior to being invited to audition for the voice department.
  7. Students interested in applying and auditioning for a major in piano are required to submit a screening prior to being invited to audition for the piano department.

Decision letters are mailed mid December for fall auditions and in early April for spring auditions.

Exceptions:
Musical Studies Major (formerly called the College Music Major): Arts and Sciences students who are interested in declaring this major in the college should schedule and appointment to see either Associate Dean Ellen Sayles 775-8540 or Associate Dean Andrea Kalyn 775-8293.

Changing or adding a major: Conservatory students who wish to add a Conservatory major or change a Conservatory major need to meet with the Conservatory Associate Dean.
