Use the following checklist to ensure that your application is complete and all supporting materials have been requested.
- Submit the Unified Application for Music and Performing Arts Schools and the $100 application fee, which is submitted online as part of the unified application process (or a completed College Board fee-waiver request form). Deadline: December 1 (November 1 for Early Review)
- Request two music teacher recommendations. Music teacher recommendations will be submitted electronically through the Unified Application. The applicant will be required to provide the names and email addresses for two music teachers when completing the application. An email with detailed instructions for completing the recommendation will be sent to the music teacher as soon as the application is submitted. Deadline: December 15 (November 15 for Early Review)
- Request secondary school report and transcript. Deadline: December 1 (November 1 for Early Review)
- Request SAT I/ACT score report(s) be sent to Oberlin. (This is not required for students who are submitting TOEFL results.) Deadline: December 1 (November 1 for Early Review) SAT Code: 1587 ACT Code: 3304
- Submit photo for your Conservatory admissions file. If you have not already done so, please e-mail a photo of you with your instrument to: michael.manderen@oberlin.edu.
- DOUBLE-DEGREE APPLICANTS ONLY: Submit the Common Application with all supporting materials to the College of Arts and Sciences. Submit a $35 application fee to the College of Arts and Sciences admissions office; this fee is in addition to the Conservatory's $100 fee, which is submitted online as part of the unified application process. Deadline: December 1 for the Conservatory, January 15 for the College of Arts and Sciences (November 1 for Conservatory Early Review, November 15 for the College of Arts and Sciences Early Decision I or January 2 for the College of Arts and Sciences Early Decision II)
- TRANSFER APPLICANTS ONLY: Confidential Transfer Report and request college transcript. Deadline: December 1 (November 1 Early Review)
- ALL CLASSICAL PIANO APPLICANTS: Submit screening recording. Deadline: December 1 (November 1 Early Review)
- ON CAMPUS AUDITION VOICE APPLICANTS ONLY: Submit screening recording. Deadline: December 1 (November 1 Early Review)
- JAZZ APPLICANTS ONLY: Download MP3 files of the jazz accompaniment.
- ON CAMPUS AUDITION JAZZ APPLICANTS ONLY: Submit screening recording. Deadline: December 1 (November 1 Early Review)
- TIMARA APPLICANTS ONLY: Submit screening portfolio with the TIMARA Screening Materials Mailing Form. Those applicants who progress past the screening will be contacted in mid-December (mid-November for Early Review) regarding additional materials and on-campus auditions. Deadline: December 1 (November 1 for Early Review)
- COMPOSITION APPLICANTS ONLY: Submit Composition scores with the Audition Materials Mailing Form. Deadline: February 1 (November 1 Early Review)
- MASTER OF MUSIC IN HISTORICAL PERFORMANCE APPLICANTS ONLY: Request three music teacher recommendations; submit complete set of official college/university academic transcripts (secondary school transcripts and SAT or ACT scores are not required). Deadline: December 1 (November 1 Early Review)
- MASTER OF MUSIC TEACHING: Deadline January 15. Follow all instructions found at: www.oberlin.edu/musiced/mmt/admissions/apply.html
- CHANGE OF STATUS: Follow all instructions for College to Conservatory and Double-Degree applicants.
- INTERNATIONAL APPLICANTS ONLY(except for International Applicants from CANADA): Submit results of the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL). Scores must be sent directly to Oberlin by the testing service. For more information about the TOEFL, visit www.ets.org/toefl/. All international applicants must submit the CSS Profile and the Certification of Finances form, regardless of whether they are requesting financial aid. - INTERNATIONAL APPLICANT ONLY: For administrative purposes, e-mail (michael.manderen@oberlin.edu), mail (39 W. College Street, Oberlin, OH 44074 USA), or fax (440.775.6972) the front page of your passport. Deadline: December 1 (November 1 Early Review)
- If you intend to apply for any form of financial aid (merit or need based), then we strongly recommend you complete the Financial Aid PROFILE with the College Scholarship Service. The profile is required for need based and recommended for merit based financial aid. Deadline: February 15
- If you are requesting need-based financial aid, then you must file the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) with the federal processor. Deadline: March 1
- Early Review Financial Aid: If you are interested in applying for Early Review in the Conservatory and if you intend to apply for any form of financial aid (merit or need based), we suggest that you fill out the Financial Aid PROFILE with the College Scholarship Service as soon after Oct 1 as possible. Filing this form early allows us to provide an estimate of costs in order for you to evaluate the affordability of attending Oberlin. This profile is required for need based applicants and strongly recommended for merit based financial aid consideration. Deadline: February 15
- If you are requesting financial aid and your parents are separated or divorced, your non-custodial parent must submit Oberlin's Non-Custodial Parent Statement to the Office of financial Aid. Deadline: February 15
- If you are requesting financial aid, submit a signed copy of your federal tax return and a signed copy of your parents' federal tax return plus copies of their W2 forms; to the Office of Financial Aid. Mail on or before April 15
