As a Spanish major at Oberlin, I spent a semester in Córdoba with the PRESCHO program, as well as winter terms at language schools in Costa Rica and Mexico. I also worked as a research assistant for Prof. Faber and served as editor of the Voces newspaper. Following graduation, I spent two years as a union organizer with PCUN, a farm workers’ union in Oregon, promoting the rights of immigrant workers. Most recently, I completed my M.A. in Latin American Studies at Georgetown University, with a focus on immigration policy and international migration. During the summer of 2005, I interned at the Mexico City mission of the International Organization for Migration. I am now continuing my commitment to immigrant workers’ rights as a research analyst with the International Brotherhood of Teamsters.
