At Oberlin, I majored in Creative Writing and Spanish, with a minor in History. I also became involved with a program through the Immigrant Worker Project (based in Wooster) that taught ESL to migrants in rural Ohio. This work led to me becoming an union organizer in Chicago, IL, with AFSCME after I graduated in 2003. Knowing Spanish helped me in both jobs. Now I plan to attend the University of Arizona to get an M.A. in Latin American Studies and, if they accept me, a law degree. I hope to use this to work in some way with the situation at the US-Mexico border.
