“Destinations and Departures”
June 14 - 17, 2012
The Oberlin Conservatory of Music has been both destination and point of departure for generations of talented young musicians and music lovers. As destination, it is a hub of expectation and exploration, an incubator of talent and intellect, and a nexus of family like support within an entrepreneurial community. As point of departure, it is a portal to futures filled with promise, an archive of recollections—populated by beloved professors, staff members, and classmates—and a wellspring for what it means to be a complete musician—and a complete human being. Oberlin is moment in time, map for the future, and memory.
For the first time in its 147-year history, Oberlin's Conservatory of Music, in partnership with the Alumni Association, will host a reunion for alumni—conservatory and double-degree graduates, students who enrolled in music courses, and all Oberlin alumni who simply love music are encouraged to attend. Although it is impossible to accurately render the particular era when you walked the corridors of Bibbins and Robertson—or of old Warner Hall—your own memories will take care of that.
Join your friends—and friends yet to be made—this summer, and discover a new destination: the Oberlin you knew, and the Oberlin you thought you knew. After traveling so many roads on your own journey, take the turn off Route 511 and renew your connections to the place where it all began.
We hope you plan to attend! Registration is now closed. The Conservatory Reunion Welcome Center (65 E. College St., Suite 4) will open for ticket sales on Thursday, June 14 at 4:00 p.m. Please note that registration and housing packets will not be able to be picked up before then.
If you will be arriving to campus after the Conservatory Reunion Welcome Center closes (at 10:00 p.m. on Thursday and 5:00 p.m. on Friday), and you have a dorm reservation, please go to the Safety and Security Office, located at 159 W. Lorain St., where the officers will be able to let you into your dorm room for the evening.

In addition, you may leave messages for friends at the center.

Friday, June 15: 7:30 a.m.-5:00 p.m.
Saturday, June 16: 7:30 a.m.-5:00 p.m.
Sunday, June 17: 8:00 a.m.-Noon
Note: If you will be arriving after the registration desk closes, special arrangements must be made for housing access. Alert the Alumni Office before the weekend or the Welcome Center during the weekend if this applies to you.
Because of the large number of people expected to attend the weekend, making a reservation is essential. We cannot guarantee tickets or accommodations for those who arrive without reservations.
Dormitory rooms are available for Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights, but not Sunday night. All dorm rooms must be vacated by 2 p.m. on Sunday, June 17, 2012.
Ohio weather can be unpredictable! If warm weather is predicted, we suggest you bring a portable fan since the dormitories are not air conditioned. If cool weather is predicted, we suggest you bring warm sleepwear, as we only provide one light blanket per bed. Once the heat is turned off for the year, it cannot be turned back on. We also suggest that you bring a wash cloth, soap, extra towels, a reading lamp, and clothes hangers.
While we do our best to accommodate the needs of returning alumni, there are very limited facilities for those with special needs such as private baths, wheelchair ramps, and accessible bathrooms. We recommend you consider reserving lodging in a local motel or bed and breakfast.
Alumni will be housed together by decade in dormitories as space permits; make your reservation form as soon as possible to ensure that you are housed with classmates. Please indicate the number of beds required; most rooms have two single beds. Single rooms are available in some dorms. Rates for beds in dorm rooms are as follows: $35.00 per bed, per night if reserved by June 1 (midnight EDT). After June 1, all beds in dorms are $65.00 per night. Furnishings include sheets, pillow and case, blanket, and one hand towel and one bath towel. These supplies are not replenished daily.
Green Initiative - Bring Your Own Water Bottle
As part of our ongoing effort to make the Conservatory Reunion & Celebration have as little impact on the planet as possible, Campus Dining Services has been asked to eliminate single use water bottles. Water will be available throughout the weekend in several locations; we welcome you to fill your own reusable bottle. Help us reduce the amount of plastic on campus during this busy weekend by bringing your water bottle with you.

Child Care: If you have children who are too young for Camp Oberlin, please contact email@example.com for a list of on-call babysitters. This list will also be available at the Welcome Center.
Traveling With An Infant: Traveling to Oberlin with your infant is a great experience, but it does require some advance planning. The mattress can double as a changing table pad. Bring baby blankets since only two adult-sized blankets are provided. Bring your child’s favorite toys to help him/her adjust to the strange surroundings. You may want to bring a stroller; the dining halls have a few highchairs.
Children with sleeping bags in a parent's room are not charged.
Wheelchairs will be available for the weekend from the Conservatory Reunion & Celebration Welcome Center. There is a $50 deposit (cash, check, MC or VISA only) fee of which $35 will be refunded when the wheelchair is returned at the end of the weekend. All wheelchairs must be returned by 12:45 p.m. on Sunday, June 17, or you will forfeit your deposit.
Your journey can be part of the celebration and help us green Oberlin: Fly or Drive Together Whether you fly or drive to the Conservatory Reunion & Celebration, you now have an opportunity to connect with your neighbors on your journey. You can carpool to Oberlin or share a cab or rental from the airport. Does your car have an extra seat? Use your trip as a mini-reunion and find other Oberlin alumni and friends in your region, while reducing the number of cars traveling to Oberlin in June.
