Oberlin College grads sent off to change world (The Chronicle-Telegram)

Oberlin College has a legacy of producing graduates that go on to do great things. Whether it’s being the mayor of Washington, D.C., like Adrian Fetty, or creating the hit television shows “Cheers” and “Frasier” like Jim Burrows, Obies, as they like to be called, have succeeded in nearly every imaginable industry. On Monday, as hundreds of Obies received degrees, the significance of the day wasn’t lost on any. Just in case it was, college President Marvin Krislov told the group to go out and change the world.

In the second row of the audience, actors Danny DeVito and wife Rhea Perlman sat and smiled as they listened. Their son, Jacob DeVito, graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Arts & Sciences. With others, they stood and video taped the speeches, watched the processional march of students and said hello to fans, fellow proud parents and friends.

It’s Friday, Friday... And Friday before a holiday weekend, no less. Something to entertain those of you still stuck in the office: Administrators at Oberlin College in Ohio agreed to totally embarrass themselves in a lip-synced parody of Rebecca Black’s “Friday.” The video premiered Thursday night at the Class of 2011 Senior Supper, which kicks off a weekend of festivities.
