Andria Derstine Selected to Lead the Allen Memorial Art Museum

Following a nationwide search, Andria Derstine has been named the John G.W. Cowles Director of the Allen Memorial Art Museum (AMAM) at Oberlin College. She will begin her tenure on June 15, 2012. Derstine had been the Curator of Collections and Curator of European & American Art at the AMAM.

The college has entered into a power purchasing agreement with Spear Point Energy to purchase electricity from the array, which will generate approximately 3 million kilowatt hours (kWh) of electricity per year.

The Oberlin Summer Theater Festival has announced its 2012 season: William Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream, William Inge’s Bus Stop, and Marc Blitzstein’s Depression-era musical The Cradle Will Rock. The productions will feature professional Equity actors in leading roles and will run in repertory from July 6 through August 4 in Oberlin’s Hall Auditorium. Nasar’s presentation will begin at 8 p.m. in West Lecture Hall of the Oberlin Science Center.

The event, titled “A Chronicle of a Turbulent Century — With Kati Marton,” is presented on behalf of the Oscar Jaszi Lectureship, which supports visiting lectures in history, politics, economics, and Eastern European studies.
