Greetings and Instructions from the Dean

Welcome to the Oberlin family!

Congratulations on your acceptance to Oberlin. We are thrilled that you will be joining us this fall, and we very much look forward to meeting you and helping you begin your Oberlin career.

This New Students website is intended to make your preparations to come to Oberlin as easy as possible. You may want to bookmark the website so that you can refer to it easily throughout the summer. Of special note: This particular webpage contains the login to the Big Book of eForms where you can access most of the forms that you are required to submit in June and July.

The deadlines for each form are shown on the eForms Checklist that will appear when you log in, as well as on the form itself. Feel free to contact any of the offices requesting a form from you; office e-mail addresses and telephone numbers appear on each form.

The other sections of the New Students website also contain a great deal of important information that we hope you will find useful as you prepare for your arrival; including essays about an Oberlin education by two professors, one from the College of Arts and Sciences and one from the Conservatory of Music. You may also want to review the academic calendar for 2013-2014, as well as the many other Oberlin documents and informational materials on, or linked from, this website.

Your years at Oberlin, besides being exciting, will be filled with intellectual and personal growth. You will find yourself in an incredibly rich community of scholars, artists, and musicians who will challenge and inspire you to learn deeply, create imaginatively, and become a truly engaged citizen of the world.

Best of luck. Welcome to Oberlin.

Kathryn Stuart, Dean of Studies

Before you Log In

You will need your Oberlin username (ObieID) and password in order to log in to the Big Book of eForms.

A letter containing instructions on how to set up this account will be mailed to all matriculated students the week of May 13, 2013. Letters for students whose matriculation deposits are received after May 1, 2013, will be processed once weekly; normally letters will be sent to late-matriculating students within a week of receiving their deposit.

If you have lost your letter and need to have a replacement mailed to your permanent residence or officially designated summer address, please send your request by e-mail to LogOnInfo@oberlin.edu. It may take several days for your information to be re-sent to you.

You will need to enable pop-ups in your browser in order to access and complete the different forms. For security purposes, the Big Book of eForms is designed to automatically log you out of its system after 30 minutes of inactivity. To avoid losing your progress, be sure to save often as you fill out the forms.
