About the Center for Information Technology
CIT consists of different groups with specific responsibilities and functions to meet and support the information technology needs of the campus community. The staff is friendly, highly skilled, and service-oriented. The department is in the lower level of the Oberlin College Library, housed in the Seeley G. Mudd Center in Wilder Bowl, considered the heart of campus.
Among CIT's many duties are managing and administering the campus network and campuswide servers; providing technology support to faculty and administrative staff for academic purposes; troubleshooting and repairing software problems; and providing some user training and workshops. CIT also operates a Help Desk and manages the Oberlin Technology Store, where you can purchase many electronic and computer equipment and accessories at educational rates.

| Client Services | Runs CIT Help Desk; administers and maintains computer labs, including lab printing; provides student consulting staff, including Student Computing Services Center (SCSC) consultants, Help Desk consultants, Remote Site Monitors, and Residential Computer Coordinators (RCCs); sets up and delivers faculty and staff Windows computers; installs and maintains software in the labs; troubleshoots and repairs software problems; maintains some servers; provides centralized backups for administrative departments; maintains CIT website; provides some user training; provides user documentation online |
| Computer Sales & Service | Provides sales of Macintosh & Windows computers, peripherals, accessories and software to individuals and departments; sets up and delivers faculty and staff Macintosh computers; troubleshoots and repairs hardware problems, including printers |

| Networking, Operations, and Systems | Manages and administers campus network, including Resnet, and connections to Internet; provides planning and development for the future; monitors and administers bandwidth usage; manages and administers most campus-wide servers, including mail server and web server, DNS, DHCP, etc.; administers LOCKER space; creates and manages computer accounts; configures printers for network access; manages Uniprint system; provides computer operations, including payroll data entry and required printouts. |
