Laptop Loaners

The CIT Help Desk on A-Level retains a small cache of Macintosh and Windows laptops available for short-term loan.

Faculty and Staff

For Travel

Faculty and staff members can borrow a laptop for travel purposes for up to two weeks through the CIT Help Desk. Requests can be made ahead of time by sending an email to cit@oberlin.edu.

For Classroom Use

Laptops needed for classroom or lab use should be checked out through OCTET.

During Repairs

Faculty and staff may borrow a laptop through the CIT Help Desk—subject to availability—while their college-provided computer receives hardware repairs. Inquire at the Help Desk when turning in a computer for more information on this service.

Students

General Loan

CIT does not make laptops generally available, but students may check out laptops from the Main Library Circulation Desk in Mudd Center. More information about the Library checkout process can be found on the Oberlin College Library website.

During Repairs

Students who have purchased computers from the Oberlin Technology Store may check out a laptop loaner from the Store when their computer is at CIT for hardware repairs. If a student's computer was not purchased through Oberlin College, they may not borrow a laptop during repairs.
