Events & Programs

Oberlin Creativity & Leadership's intensive winter term program designed to provide exceptionally creative, motivated Oberlin students with a dynamic environment in which to explore and develop their ideas. The program supports students with a wide variety of ambitions, including starting a grassroots organization, offering a new product or service, launching a tour, commercializing a discovery, and more.

In early February 2010 the Creativity & Leadership Project charged a group of eleven students with designing a line of college apparel that would be saleable both to current students and alumni. In addition to designing the clothing, students were tasked with developing a marketing plan that included market research and a strategy for distribution. These students, who represent different years and majors, came to the challenge as individuals who shared a passion for design but worked together to accomplish the results that are now showcased and sold in the Oberlin College Bookstore.

Designing the Future is a series of panel discussions, workshops, performances, and exhibitions that explore the concept of design and its power to effect change and transform culture. The symposium took place on the campus of Oberlin College in April of 2010.

Inventing the Future, Oberlin’s first entrepreneurship symposium, celebrated the launch of the Creativity & Leadership project by creating a forum in which to define and explore entrepreneurship in a liberal arts setting. The symposium provoked dialogue among students, faculty, and alumni, and introduced students to a network of student, faculty, alumni, and regional entrepreneurs and advocates. The events took place on February 8 and 9, 2008.
