Crispin Swank hails from St. Cloud, Minnesota, and is a third-year double-degree student with majors in classical guitar performance and politics. Crispin’s interest in early music began in Collegium Musicum Oberliniense under the direction of Professor Steven Plank. This summer, he studied medieval scores and notation using resources from the Bibliothèque Nationale de France. He founded and directs NeumeMusic, an early music choir at Oberlin that specializes in the works of Josquin, Dufay, and Machaut. He frequently performs early music on the guitar and for voice. He is also the president and treasurer for the Oberlin Classical Guitar Association.
