Juan Bolaños has been a research scientist since 2006 and is a rather curious individual. He received his BSc in 2004 from the Universidad Autónoma de Querétaro and dedicates his spare time to tinkering with engineering projects and loves thought experiments. Upon leaving his home country of México for an unknown adventure in Hong Kong, Juan met his wife and partner in crime, Francesca “Chesa” Lichauco. While working in Hong Kong and in collaboration with Monash University in 2010, Juan developed a novel, now-patented method for adult stem cell extraction as well as a patent for medium scale production of adult human stem cells. After two very exciting years of life in Hong Kong, Juan and his wife moved to the U.S. for 1 year and Pakistan for another, which is when he took up home-brewing as a hobby. With his prior biotechnology experience, Juan made the jump from human stem cells to his newly reawakened passion, beer brewing. The love affair evolved into furthered interests in welding classes, restaurant management courses and ultimately a business plan that is meant to share with Mexico the amazing subculture of beer that he was so glad to experience while enjoying both coasts of the U.S.

As Sancho Panza is to Don Quixote, so is Chesa (Juan’s wife) to him; together they make a team that pushes each other to advance in life and take up challenges with each other’s support.
