Zach Moo Young ’17, of Cincinnati, Ohio is a senior Psychology major in the college. He plays on the men’s varsity basketball team and thanks the basketball program for introducing and recruiting him to Oberlin College. As a Mellon Mays Undergraduate Fellow, Zach conducts independent research on the interactions between Black men, sport, and upward mobility. His research is co-mentored by Clovis White, PhD and Daphne John, PhD, both professors in the Sociology department. Zach also works with local elementary students with the Du Bois Fraction Club, helping to make math fun for children. While on campus he also writes for the Oberlin College Blogs and is a Branch Rickey Program mentee, which matches minority students who are interested in a career in college athletics with NCAC athletic administrators and coaches for a professional shadowing experience.
