Alison Williams

Associate Dean for Academic Diversity Director, Multicultural Resource Center

Dean Williams works with faculty, students, alumni and staff to develop curricular and faculty diversity initiatives.  She supports the MRC’s commitment to the development of an inclusive vision of diversity and multiculturalism that fosters the academic excellence and personal growth of all students. The MRC centers the academic and personal needs of historically underrepresented communities, and at the same time, creates a wide range of educational opportunities for the entire campus community to explore difference by recognizing and valuing identities, histories, interests, and needs based on a range of categories like race, ethnicity, class, gender, gender identity and expression, sexuality, disability, religious faith, nation, and citizenship in order to build mutual respect and understanding.  Before coming to Oberlin, she was a chemistry professor and has served on national committees to foster diversity in academia.
