Welcome! We are happy to provide you with information about the Office of Disability Services at Oberlin College.
Oberlin College has a long and rich history of recognizing and supporting diversity including provision of services for students with disabilities. The college actively continues support for students with disabilities through the Office of Disability Service, college staff, and college faculty.
The mission of the Office of Disability Services is to facilitate access to all programs, services, and activities that are provided at Oberlin College while encouraging and helping students to develop student self-advocacy. We not only are interested in assisting students while they are students at Oberlin College, but we also hope to help students develop self-advocacy skills that they can use in their future.
Overview of Services
The Office of Disability Services provides services for over 10 percent of the Oberlin College student population, including students with:
- Attention Deficit (Hyperactivity) Disorder, AD(H)D
- Autism/Asperger's Syndrome
- Blind/Visual Impairments
- Chronic Illness/Medical Conditions
- Deaf/Hard of Hearing
- Head Injury/Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI)
- Learning Disabilities
- Orthopedic/Mobility Disorders
- Psychiatric/Psychological Disabilities

Our Student Accessibility Advocates are successful upper-class students who understand the challenges of Oberlin course work. They are available to suggest the best ways to approach challenging classes and to offer examples of what has worked well for them.

Would you like to mentor a stude or students with disabilities? Are you interested in advocacy for issues surrounding disability? Consider the position of Student Accessibility Advocate, a paid position in the Office of Disability Services.
Training is provided, so no prior experience is needed.
