Salt Distribution Policy
Each year the Office of Facilities Operations will provide students living in village houses with snow-melt salt for the winter months. The following are the steps to ensure that the distribution of salt is efficient and that students receive communication about the policy.
By the third week of classes each year, the Resident Director responsible for Village Housing will provide the Facilities-Res Ed Liaison with a complete list of village house addresses.
By September 30 of each year, the Facilities-Res Ed Liaison will place an order for enough 25 pound bags of salt to provide each address with 2 bags.
When product arrives, the Facilities-Res Ed Liaison will coordinate the delivery of salt to each address through the FAMIS work order system.
On October 1st, the Resident Director responsible for Village Housing will send out an e-mail to all students living in village houses that informs them of the following salt distribution policy:
Salt Distribution Policy
Each village house address will receive one bag of snow-melt salt during the month of October. The salt provided to residents is to be used for removing ice from exterior stairs and walkways immediately adjacent to the house. The bag of salt should be kept inside the house out of the weather.
If the first bag is fully used, residents can place a work order with the Office of Facilities Operations to have a second bag delivered. If a house needs more than the two bags provided by the College, then residents will have to purchase additional bags.
In addition, the Resident Director responsible for Village Housing should Inform the residents who to contact if they have not received a bag of salt by November 1st.
