The Office of International Student Services issues and reviews F-1 visa documents and assists students with matters related to their visa status, social security numbers, taxation, and employment in the United States. The office also oversees the English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) program and provides counseling and support on issues of cultural and academic adjustment and other matters.
The office offers special programming and educational events for international students, including a pre-orientation program for new international students.
Oberlin's international student community includes approximately 250 students with foreign citizenship who are studying at Oberlin on an F-1 visa and approximately 200 students with dual U.S. and foreign citizenship, permanent residency in the US, or U.S. citizenship with permanent residence abroad.
