Oberlin One-time Protection Service (OOPS!)
This service applies only to laptops purchased between July 1, 2009 and June 30, 2011.

We've seen it over and over again: A nearly new notebook with a fried logic board, damaged by a drink spilled on the keyboard, a screen cracked after accidentally stepping on the notebook, or some other accident resulting in hundreds of dollars of repair bills. Damage from these types of accidents are not covered by manufacturers' warranties!
We can help you protect your investment with our optional Oberlin One-time Protection Service (OOPS!).
Coverage
OOPS! will cover the cost of one (1) incident of non-warranty damage to the computer caused by accident, such as liquid spills, drops, etc., during the 3-year warranty period. It will not cover cosmetic damage, such as scratches, dents or cracks, that do not affect the functionality of the machine. We are not responsible for lost data, so be sure to back up your computer regularly.
The covered unit must be brought or sent to our facility for repair. We can not provide reimbursement for repairs done at other facilities. If the customer is off campus, the notebook must be shipped to us, insured. We will ship it back at our cost if the customer will not be on campus within 10 days after the repair is completed.
Repair times may depend on the availability of parts from the manufacturer; we are not responsible for such delays.
OOPS! is not an insurance plan or manufacturer's warranty. All non-accident repairs must be done under the manufacturer's warranty. Any repairs made under OOPS! will be warranted by us for 90 days. Any and all parts replaced may no longer be eligible for repair under the manufacturer's warranty due to the nature of your accidental damage.
Only the original notebook configuration is covered. Upgrades, peripherals, accessories, and external devices are not covered.
Theft and loss are not covered. We are not responsible for lost data.
This policy is for the benefit of the original customer and is not transferable to another.
Purchase Requirements
OOPS! must be purchased on the same invoice as the notebook being covered. Only notebooks costing $1700 or less are eligible for coverage. Since liquid spills and drops are the most common causes of accidental damage, the customer must additionally purchase and utilize a keyboard cover (such as Moshi ClearGuard or KB Keyboard Cover) and a sleeve, carrying case or hard cover designed specifically for notebook computers.
The notebook must be covered by a 3-year manufacturer's warranty, included with HP professional models or by the purchase of AppleCare for Macintosh notebooks. The customer is responsible for registering AppleCare on Apple's website within 90 days of purchase.
Customer Responsibility
The customer is responsible for taking ordinary care of his/her notebook. This includes using a keyboard cover to protect against spills, dust, dirt, crumbs, etc., and a protective case designed for a notebook when the computer is carried around. The notebook should also be kept clean by regularly wiping with a non-abrasive cloth and cleaner designed for electronic equipment.
In the event that the condition of a notebook shows clear evidence of careless use and abuse by excessive multiple dents, scratches or dirt, we may, at our discretion, require the customer to make a co-payment of up to 50% of the total cost of repair.
