Sexual Assault Awareness Month (2012)
Sunday, April 01, 2012
Sexual Assault Awareness Month (SAAM) kicks-off next week, and we are so excited to see communities engaged in raising awareness and prioritizing prevention. The National 2012 SAAM campaign declares, “It’s time… to talk about it!” and focuses on healthy sexuality. Promoting healthy behaviors encourages sexual interactions and relationships that are consensual, respectful and informed. Here are some great ways to get involved in this year’s SAAM campaign:
-
Wondering how to start the conversation? Watch the “It’s time… to talk about it!” video!
-
Join us for Tweet about it! Tuesdays
Tweet about it! Tuesdays are healthy sexuality chats happening on Twitter every Tuesday in April as a part of Sexual Assault Awareness Month (SAAM). Join experts for a one-hour live, real-time discussion of healthy sexuality. Learn more about how to participate!
-
Check out healthy sexuality resources. Including fact sheets and discussion tools on talking with children, consent, gender norms and sexuality in later life.
-
Build your campaign with materials such as social networking posts, a SAAM proclamation, a letter to the editor and tips for partnering.
-
Many resources are available in Spanish (recursos en Español) too.
-
Share with us! Let us know how you are participating in SAAM. Share events, videos, pictures and announcements with NSVRC on Facebook and Twitter.
Here’s to an eventful, awareness building April & sustained conversation on sexual violence prevention!
