Multifaith Center

68 South Professor Street, Oberlin, Ohio

The Oberlin College Multifaith Center is located on the Oberlin College campus in the Lewis House at 68 South Professor St. in Oberlin, Ohio. The center provides program space for the Office of Religious and Spiritual Life (ORSL) and its multifaith and tradition-specific religious, spiritual, ethical, and educational programming and services. ORSL’s office suite is located in Wilder Hall Room 217.

The Multifaith Center may be reserved as a gathering, meeting, and retreat space for campus spiritual communities, local religious communities, and related peace, service, and social justice organizations.

To make a reservation, please contact the ORSL administrative assistant at orsl@oberlin.edu. Once scheduled, users may gain access by going to the Wilder Hall Information Desk and trading an official ID for the keys. If the Wilder Hall Information Desk is closed, scheduled users may call Campus Security at (440) 775-8444 to gain access. Space users are responsible for following ORSL policies regarding the kitchen and all spaces, and users may be charged a fee if the spaces are not left in a clean and neat condition.

The facility includes:

  • An entrance foyer with space for stowing personal belongings
  • A multifaith reflection room at the center of the house for various forms of worship, prayer, meditation, and spiritual practice with seating for eight people
  • A living room for gatherings with seating for 18 people
  • A dining room for meals and meetings with seating for 14 people
  • A large kitchen for the preparation of meals
  • A gender-neutral restroom
  • A pastoral care room with seating for 10 people (second floor)
  • A front porch and yard and large backyard area
  • A conference room with seating for 16 people (second floor; booked through the Office of the Ombudsperson)

The Office of Religious and Spiritual Life and the Office of the Ombudsperson (including the Oberlin College Dialogue Center) share Lewis House. No spaces on the second floor except the pastoral care room and restroom should be used by ORSL users without prior consultation with the Office of the Ombudsperson.  You can find the full Lewis House Use Policy here.
