The Oberlin College Parents website is intended to provide you with useful information about the college's programs, resources, policies, and procedures. We've sought to gather together in one place basic information about the college, provide answers to practical questions or point you to the right resource, and generally convey a sense of what Oberlin College is about. A Handbook for New Oberlin Students and Parents
The Handbook for New Oberlin Students and Parents is designed to be a quick reference tool and directs you to detailed information about Oberlin. We have included topics we have found to be of interest to parents and families of new Oberlin students and contact information for an abbreviated list of campus contacts in the Campus Contact Information section of this handbook.
Information for New Students and Parents
The start of the academic year and Orientation week for new students will take place at the end of August. Browse the website to find the required forms to submit during the summer, the preliminary Fall Orientation 2012 schedule, information about registering for classes, information about placement tests and auditions, useful tips on what to bring to campus, and more.
Parents and Family Weekend
We invite parents and other family members to visit the campus, meet friends and professors of their student, sit in on classes, and attend college and community events. We offer this opportunity each year during Parents and Family Weekend.
The weekend offers many informal gatherings to help you get to know the Oberlin community and some of the academic and cultural activities, programs, and services available to your student. One of our signature events is Breakfast with the President, where you may learn first hand about some of the initiatives taking place at Oberlin College and Conservatory of Music.
Although you are welcome to visit Oberlin at anytime for other events, including convocations and concerts, Parents and Family Weekend is designed with you in mind. Plan now to attend next year's weekend: November 9-11, 2012.
The Wilder Bowl Bulletin: A Parent's Perspective
The Wilder Bowl Bulletin is a bimonthly e-newsletter produced by the college for parents and family members of Oberlin College students. Issue dates are in February, April, June, August, October, and December. The bulletin reports on Oberlin’s campus events, institutional developments, fundraising endeavors, and the achievements of faculty, staff members, and students.
