Educational Background

I am a Visiting Assistant Professor of Hispanic Studies. My areas of scholarly research are Mexican and Caribbean literary and cultural studies; Latin American intellectual history, and the history of the idea of labor, idleness and laziness. I have published academic articles on these topics and am currently at work on a book manuscript on the political grammar of work and idleness in 19th century Mexico. I am also a translator, published novelist and a monthly columnist for the Puerto Rican newspaper, El Nuevo Día.
