The Office of Residence Life (ResLife) enables the extension and enhancement of academic learning beyond the classroom. This is accomplished through providing quality programming, efficient services, and safe and comfortable facilities.

ResLife maintains a personal presence in students’ lives through its staff of resident assistants (RAs)  and village assistants (VAs), full-time students who help build community, involve students in college programs, resolve conflicts, and uphold college rules. RAs, and VAs report to professional staff who live in college housing and support and oversee their efforts toward fostering community.

Mission Statement

The Office of Residence Life offers housing and program resources for diverse communities to promote learning, leadership, and respect.

Vision Statement

The vision of the Office of Residence Life is to be a student-centered organization that is the heart at Oberlin College.  Our team will continue to forge cross-campus partnerships that support critical thinking skills in our living/learning environments; help utilize the college's strategic goal of sustainability; and provide effective use of technology and suport for individual student success.
