To register for the Flute Academy, you must complete the online application along with a $55 application fee.

In addition, you must upload a video or audio recording of two pieces: one piece taken from flute music by French composers (Schirmer), and the other of your choice. One of these pieces, or a portion of it, should be with piano accompaniment to demonstrate intonation and basic ensemble skills. For instance, this could be either the fast or slow movement of the French solo. If you do not have a pianist, we recommend playing Faure: Morceau de concours because of the simple piano part.

You also need to include the following:

  • Short resume of your accomplishments
  • Repertoire list
  • Letter of recommendation from a teacher/conductor

You may make an electronic payment for the $55 application fee with a credit card or electronic checking/savings account. If you prefer, make your check payable to Oberlin College. Mail application and check to:

Flute Academy Expenses

The cost to participate in the Flute Academy is $850, which includes tuition, double room in a college residence hall, and meals. 

Non-residential participants pay $600 commuter tuition fee or $700 commuter fee that includes lunch and dinner.

All payments are nonrefundable. The deadline to pay the balance for tuition, housing, and dining is June 10.
