Professor of Politics, received his B.A. from Willamette University and his Ph.D. from the University of California at Berkeley. He teaches political theory. His research focuses on the intersection of environmental politics and theory with postmodern thought. He teaches European political theory from ancient times to the present, American political theory, and environmental or "green" theory. In 2004, he received a Distinguished Teaching Award from Oberlin.
