Linda Pardee

Linda is the Departmental Secretary for several departments on campus, including the Classics Department, Comparative American Studies, and the Philosophy Department. She is also a trained mediator/facilitator for the Oberlin College Dialogue Center (OCDC). Using the social justice model of mediation, OCDC mediators are trained to help all parties recognize differences in power and privilege, and to address issues such as race, class, gender, and sexuality, so that all parties can be supported and have their voices heard.

While employed at Oberlin College she served as the Second Vice President and Webmaster for O.C.O.P.E., the administrative assistants union on campus. She was integral in negotiating a fair contract for members in 2010 and served on the Grievance Committee for several years where she helped develop resolutions to conflicts that had arisen between labor and management.

Linda also works for Pardee Environmental and has been employed as the Office Manager since 1991. She is an activist and currently her activism has taken her on a journey to fight for medical marijuana where she serves on the Advisory Board for the Ohio Rights Group. As an animal lover she is a foster for two rescue groups, Eskie Rescuers United and the Dachshund Rescue of North America.

Linda's philosophy on life follows a quote from a British philosopher, Bertrand Russell…

“The most valuable things in life are not measured in monetary terms. The really important things are not houses and lands, stocks and bonds, automobiles and real estate, but friendships, trust, confidence, empathy, mercy, love and faith.”
