Ferdinand (Ferd) Protzman
Ferdinand Protzman is an award-winning cultural critic, author, and former writer and contributing editor for ARTnews magazine. He has written five books and contributed to several others. His reviews, essays, investigative pieces and articles have appeared in The Washington Post, The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, The International Herald Tribune, ARTnews, The Harvard Review, The Forward, Washingtonian and Zeit-Magazin. He received The Society of Silurians Excellence in Journalism Award for Arts/Culture Reporting in 1997, for “The Riddle of Dr. Dahesh,” published in ARTnews, December 1996.
Mr. Protzman has been a featured guest at public forums on the arts and on numerous television and radio programs across the United States, and in Canada, and Europe, including CBS Sunday Morning, the BBC’s Business Matters, and NPR’s All Things Considered. He lives in Oberlin, Ohio, where he teaches journalism and serves as assistant to the president/communications at Oberlin College.
