Jessica Resvick Awarded Grant from the German Academic Exchange Service

Assistant Professor of German Jessica Resvick has been awarded a grant from the German Academic Exchange Service. This summer, she will travel to Cologne to research portrait photographer August Sander's depictions of social "types" in German society. This work is part of a larger book project titled From Stereotype to Isotype: Media, Individuality, and Society.

Emeritus Professor of English Sandra A. Zagarell coauthored the article, "An Unpublished Tale About African American Poetry: Alice Dunbar-Nelson's 'The Grievances of the Books' (1897)" published in American Literary History, Volume 36, Issue 1, Summer 2024, pp. 51-73.

Tyreek McDole ’23 Wins Sarah Vaughan International Jazz Vocal Competition

Recent Oberlin Conservatory graduate Tyreek McDole ’23 has won the 2023 Sarah Vaughan International Jazz Vocal Competition. The award includes a $5,000 cash prize and a one-of-a-kind platform for embarking on a career in the music business.
