International Students

The Office of International Students is dedicated to serving the needs of international students by offering a broad range of services and special programming. The office issues and reviews F-1 visa documents and assists students with matters related to their visa status, employment, social security numbers and taxation in the United States, as well as postgraduate educational and employment plans.

The office also oversees the English as a Second Language Program and provides counseling and support on issues of cultural adjustment as well as academic, and other matters. In addition the office offers special programming and educational events for international students, including a pre-orientation program for new international students.

International Students come to both the College of Arts and Sciences and the Conservatory of Music from more than 40 countries.  

Spring 2012 Workshops for International Students

February 14: Workshop for Conservatory students on OPT/CPT, jobs, internships and graduate school. 4:30-5:30 p.m. in the Career Services Conference Room.

February 16: Workshop for Arts and Sciences students on OPT/CPT, jobs, internships and graduate school. 4:30-5:30 p.m. in the Career Services Conference Room.

March 13 & 14: Tax workshops for new international students.  Student will recieve an email with additional information.  Workshops will be held in the Language Lab (3rd floor of Peters) and will begin at 4:30 p.m.

March 20: Question and Answer session for continuing international students who have begun their taxes but who have specific questions about how to complete the forms.  Students will recieve an email with additional inforamtion- the question and answer session will begin at 4:30 p.m.

  • Midterm grades due from faculty via PRESTO to registrar, April 3
  • Last day to declare P/NP or CR/NE option for full-semester courses; Last day to W from a full semester course; last day to change variable hour courses, April 9
  • Add/drop deadline for second module courses, April 11
  • Registration period for Fall 2012 semester, April 16-April 27
  • Last day to declare P/NP pr CR/NE from a second module course; last day to withdraw from a second module course, April 30
  • Classes end, noon May 12
  • Reading period, May 13-May 15
  • Final examination period begins, May 16
  • Spring semester ends, noon May 20
  • Final grades for graduating seniors due from faculty to Registar via PRESTO, noon, May 24

  • All authorized incomplete work for the spring 2012 semester due to faculty, June 8
  • Academic standing committee meets regarding spring semester academic performance, June 25

Please note that the college does NOT allow final exam time changes for personal travel reasons, so we advise you to book a plane ticket for the last day of the semester to avoid potential time conflicts with final exams. The final exam schedule is published at the very start of each semester (check the Registrar's Office website), so as soon as your course schedule is finalized and you've received the course syllabi from your professors, you should be able to figure out when your final exams will be.
