Choosing a Program

Once you have selected the location and program characteristics in which you are interested, you can begin to narrow down your choices. Study Away program characteristics vary greatly. Students are advised to research programs carefully and discuss options widely. You may wish to review the FAQ list in the Planning Your Study Away section of this website. The Study Away Library also has an extensive collection of evaluations of programs in which Oberlin students have participated.

The Oberlin faculty has divided study away options into three categories: 1) Oberlin Enrolled Not-in-Residence (ENR) Programs; 2) Oberlin Affiliated Programs including Consortial Programs of the Great Lakes Colleges Association (GLCA); and 3) Non-affiliated Programs. Regardless of your major, you may attend a program or institution from any of these options if you qualify and are approved.

Students who wish Oberlin financial aid or scholarship to apply to a study away program should read the Costs and Financial Aid section of this website.
