ASSISTANT PROFESSOR OF ENVIRONMENTAL POLITICS AND POLICY
The Environmental Studies Program at Oberlin College invites applications for a full-time, tenure track faculty position in the College of Arts and Sciences. Initial appointment will be for a term of four years, beginning first semester of academic year 2014-2015.
The incumbent will teach the standard teaching load (currently 4.5 courses per year), which includes teaching in the core curriculum (ENVS 101 – Environment and Society and ENVS 208 – Environmental Policy), and upper-division courses that focus on the domestic aspects of environmental politics and policy. Preference will be given to candidates who can make connections among local, regional, state, and national domestic levels, as well as links with international politics and policies. While scholarly expertise might focus specifically on issue areas such as land use and urbanization, agricultural, or natural resources, the person’s teaching and research should also examine the politics and policy of climate change. Among the qualifications required for appointment is the Ph.D. degree (in hand or expected by the first semester of the 2014-15 academic year). Candidates must demonstrate interest and potential excellence in undergraduate teaching. Successful teaching experience at the college level is desirable.
The incumbent will also participate in the full range of faculty responsibilities, which include academic advising, committee service, and sustained scholarly research appropriate to the position.
